Separation and identification of celery proteins

چکیده
Background Allergy to Apium graveolens is one of the more severe food allergies. Six celery allergens have been characterised, Api g 1-6, while additional allergens have characterised from other members of the Magnoliospida class, including kiwi, peanut and ragweed, suggesting homologous allergens may also be present in celery. The participants of the Omics Allergy School 2013 were provided with celery bulb and leaf extracts for two dimensional separation and immunoblotting.

Identification of a mannitol transporter, AgMaT1, in celery phloem.
A celery petiole phloem cDNA library was constructed and used to identify a cDNA that gives Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells the ability to grow on mannitol and transport radiolabeled mannitol in a manner consistent with a proton symport mechanism. This cDNA was named AgMaT1 (Apium graveolens mannitol transporter 1). The expression profile in source leaves and phloem was in agreement with a role ...

Background and Objective: Doxorubicin is one of the most effective chemotherapeutic agents against solid tumors. Doxorubicin causes cardio-toxicity via production of free radicals and depletion of anti-oxidants. However, the use of anti-oxidants can decrease doxorubicin-induced cardio-toxicity. Apium graveolens (celery) contains anti-oxidant compounds. Hence, this study was an attempt to figure...
متن کاملProteins Separation and Purification Methods with Focus on Chromatography: a Review Study
Before describing the structure and mechanism of action of a protein, it must first be subject to purification procedure. Protein purification is a set of processes in which one or a small number of proteins are purified from a complex compound that may be a complete cell, tissue, or organism. Understanding the functions, structural properties, and interactions of the protein are directly re...
متن کاملIdentification and Quantification of Celery Allergens Using Fiber Optic Surface Plasmon Resonance PCR
Abstract: Accurate identification and quantification of allergens is key in healthcare, biotechnology and food quality and safety. Celery (Apium graveolens) is one of the most important elicitors of food allergic reactions in Europe. Currently, the golden standards to identify, quantify and discriminate celery in a biological sample are immunoassays and two-step molecular detection assays in wh...
متن کاملSEPARATION OF NONHISTONE HIGH MOBILITY GROUP (HMG) FROM HUMAN LYMPHOCYTES BY HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY
The high mobility group (HMG) of nonhistone proteins have been investigated using two high performance liquid chromatographic techniques (HPLC). Reversed-phase HPLC under conditions of 50 mM triethylamine adjusted to pH 2.2 with phosphoric acid (solvent A) and 95% acetonitrile in water (solvent B) was used to separate proteins primarily on the basis of differences in the overall hydrophobi...
